Aptos is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain designed to deliver scalability, security, and flexibility for decentralized applications (dApps). Launched in 2022 by former Meta (Facebook) engineers, Aptos leverages the Move programming language to enhance safety and ease of development. It aims to provide a robust infrastructure for DeFi, NFTs, and other blockchain-based solutions, positioning itself as a formidable competitor in the evolving blockchain ecosystem.

Founders and History
Aptos was founded by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, both of whom were previously part of Meta’s (Facebook) Diem project. Launched in 2022, Aptos emerged from the ambitious efforts to create a scalable and secure blockchain that could support the next generation of decentralized applications. Leveraging their experience from Diem, the founders focused on innovative technologies like the Move programming language and a novel consensus mechanism to address common blockchain challenges such as scalability, transaction speed, and security. Since its inception, Aptos has attracted significant investment and a growing developer community, positioning itself as a key player in the blockchain space.
